A very special trip, a very special place and a very special person...

Ahh... I LOVE it...
*Sigh*

Kicked back at the end of the day...all is quiet, the kids are fed, homework, extra french lesson and piano practice is done, lunches are made for tomorrow, breakfast organized, and the kids are all tucked in their beds with warm hearts (hot water bottles shaped like hearts... so very sweet) tucked in between their tender little feet. Now it is time for a little bit of ME time, to catch up with you all and AHHHHH.....do a little writing and posting.
*What a pleasure*
Hi there, how was your day anyhow? I sure hope it was super and...have I said lately how very nice it is to see you here? Thanks SO much for dropping by...

On the weekend I spent endless hours searching for this ...so we could really have an authentic experience, and today I spent an hour downtown buying tickets for this...

So we can pay a visit to this...

And where we will be soooo privileged to see lots of these

(Paintings chronicling Van Gogh's life like this one of his bedroom at Arles in the south of France)

We have already bought and are reading 3 of these

Sounds lovely! We were there last year but in the summer, when it was insanely crowded.

Hey, you mentioned being a photoshop wannabe ... have a look here http://shuttersisters.com/home/2008/3/1/superhero-photo-challenge-play-with-textures.html?lastPage=true#comment1335097

I was stunned by how easy using these were (well, after my daughter showed me around). Have fun with them.

Best
Di

Hi there, thanks for stopping by and leaving that lovely comment;) I had a wander around your site myself and very refreshing it is indeed;) I have to tell you I love Bruce Chatwin myself;) I read everything I could get my hands on about him. His photography is something else.

Enjoy Amsterdam.

Hi

I LOVE that time at the end of the day when the kids are tucked away and your life is (mostly) organized!

Sounds like a wonderful Easter holiday. I love Van Gogh and we have several Van Gogh for kids books too. They're great - we all like them! Alan went to that museum on one of his trips there. He says it's great. He also went to the Anne Frank house, which he also really liked.

Good Luck!

Hey! Ted (middle son) just called from Amsterdam the other day. Loved it there - saw that museum too. (And I'm sure he did a few other things in Amsterdam that you won't be doing...)
He and his girlfriend are now in Germany.
Have a wonderful vacation!

The only time I've been to Amsterdam, a very long time ago, I stayed in a gay hotel, sort of by accident, that museum wasn't built, or has been enormously renovated...should be fantastic! Did you get a package recently?

Keynoter, YES, I adore him too, a fine writer and a young life sadly ended too short, which ones were your favorite?

Sarah!! AHhh yes it is THE best moment of the day...

Hi Beth!HOw nice to hear from your son...yeah won't be checking out any "HERB" with the kids in tow...not that that is my thing anyway...but you know when in Rome....Naw....just kidding...wouldn't touch the stuff...a little coffee maybe....
You mean they don't sell COFFEE in a Coffeehouse?

Orenta!
Hi, yes it is a very cool city,(the gay hotel must have been interesting...!)In general, can't wait, I LOVE street culture and urban decay; graffitti, all that...not sure how much of that we will see with kids in tow, but VERY excited anyway...!

I am not a huge gallery lover but Van Gogh is truly amazing. I have only seen bits and pieces of his work in Toronto and Ottawa, but seeing his work up close was really special. You can almost taste his work, it is so expressive. Have a uber time.

Dear Heather,

As you can see I've finally figured out this "comments" thing!

The trip to the Van Gogh museum sounds amazing. Maybe next time you come to Burgundy (when by the way????) I can commission a painting from you.

Bisous xo

Laura
